Valuable and rare species of agricultural landscape birds

Another brochure developed in the KIK/25 project is devoted to valuable and rare species of agricultural landscape birds. The brochure contains descriptions of a dozen selected bird species found in agricultural lands, such as black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa), northern lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) and common snipe (Gallinago gallinago). For each species, information on the population occurring in Poland, the status of protection, information on the appearance, breeding ecology, types of settled habitats and the threats are given. The descriptions are supplemented with pictures of birds made by recognized nature photographers, among others Grzegorz Leśniewski, Cezary Korkosz or Miłosz Kowalewski. In addition, the brochure contains information on the Farmland Bird Index (FBI) as a tool for assessment of population trends of birds of fields and meadows, measures taken to mitigate negative intensification effects and protecting natural habitats undertaken by European Union countries and the role of Poland in the protection of agricultural  landscape birds.

The electronic version of the "bird" brochure in English is available in the "Download" tab.
